Procedure for using Ceftriaxone injection
This is injected in veins of the patient, once or twice in a day or as directed by the doctor. The dosage of the injection depends upon the response to the treatment and medical condition of the patient. A lot of water and other fluids should be taken by the patient.
Drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor directs you otherwise. IV fluids containing calcium should not be mixed with this and all the instructions said by the physician must be followed while injecting it. If pre-mixed frozen solution is used, then the bag should be defrost at room temperature for at least an hour. It should not be defrosted by putting it a microwave or in a water bath. The bag is thoroughly checked for any leakage and if it leaks then it should be discarded. After defrosting, it is not necessary to refreeze it. This works best when injected at a constant level inside the body at uniform intervals of time.
